Vita man charged following Winnipeg Police drug trafficking investigation

A 24-year-old man from Vita is facing drug trafficking related charges following an investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service.

In August 2024, the WPS Guns and Gangs Unit entered into an investigation regarding a criminal network trafficking cocaine in Winnipeg and within northern First Nations communities. 

Steinbach Bible College set to relocate as Steinbach Christian School expands

Steinbach Bible College will be moving to a new campus in 2026.  

The announcement was made Thursday morning in a joint statement from both the Steinbach Bible College and Steinbach Christian School. The two organizations currently share a building but the Christian school recently acquired all of SBC’s properties. 

SBC President Dave Reimer says they already have their new home picked out.

Steinbach woman narrowly escapes burning house early Sunday morning

 woman narrowly escaped her basement suite in Steinbach early Sunday morning as the house burned around her.  

According to Fire Chief Kel Toews, his crews were called to a house fire at the corner of Elm Avenue and Elmdale Street in Steinbach around 1 AM on Sunday.  

Chantal Delfosse, who lived in a basement suite in the home, says she went to bed around 11:30 and woke up to use the washroom shortly before 1.

With Tuesday's eye-opening news that seven individuals were arrested in Portage la Prairie following a child exploitation and human trafficking investigation, Manitobans are being encouraged to be vigilant.

'I'm just so grateful': Mom of 8-year-old rescued from play structure thanks firefighters

The mother of the little girl who was rescued by the Tache Fire Department after getting stuck in a play structure, says she could not be more thankful. 

The girl got herself wedged into a thick plastic drum component of a play structure at a Lorette school last weekend. The fire department had to cut the play structure to get her out. 

The girl's mother, Keanna Deslaurier, recounts the situation.
