Proverbs 17:3

Ask yourself three questions of discipleship:As you think through the major decisions you have recently made (during the past six to eight months), have they pleased the Lord or fedyour ego?Have you begun to take your personal goals and desires before the Lord or fed your ego?

Are you really willing to change those goals if, while praying about them, the Lord should lead you to do so?Discipleship refuses to let us skate throughlife tossing around a few religious comments while we live as we please. Itsays, "There can be no more important relationship to you than the one you have with Jesus Christ."

And it also says, "When you set forth your goals and desires in life, say no to the things that will only stroke your ego, and yes to the things that will deepen your commitment to Christ."
