Bill C -234 still awaits third and final reading in the Senate.

The bill would remove the carbon tax on natural gas and propane used for on-farm use for grain drying, irrigation, heating, and cooling livestock barns and greenhouses.

There has been some heated discussion around the bill in the Senate.

In an opinion piece (published by The Hill Times) Andrew Cardozo an independent Senator from Ontario, and a member of the Progressive Senate Group noted that in the next couple of weeks, there will be at least two votes, one of which is on an amendment to Bill C-234.

Once the amendments are debated and voted on, there will be a vote on the bill itself (as amended or not amended).

If the bill is approved in an amended form, it will need to go back to the Commons, as both Chambers must approve the exact same bill before it moves along.
