Peacefully at Pinecrest Home of the Aged, after a courageous battle with Diabetes, Janina Kozlowski, passed away June 15, 2021 at the age of 89.
She leaves to mourn two sons, Donald (Trish) and Andrew (Jan Brose). Grandchildren, Mike (Jami), Mitchell (Abbie), Sheridan (Alex), Jessica, Matthew (Kathy) and Alanna Branch (Wyatt). Three Great grandchildren Josh, Suvi and Bowen.
Predeceased by her parents in Poland, Antonio and Maria Kolasinski, her husband Adam and one son Edward.
Born in Leintrez, France March 26, 1932, the family fled during war time to Poland and made it home during her younger years. After meeting her husband to be, they came to Canada in 1961, got married Dec of that year and started a new life and a family. Shortly after, mom had two twin boys in 1962 followed by Donald in 1968. Her family was complete. Her life was home, family and the huge garden that fed everyone all year round. Canning, preserving was the fall major activity. Can't forget the annual mushroom (Pidpenky) adventures. Meals were always homecooked, potatoes every meal and of course ... dessert. Be it cakes or the famous chocolate chip cookies.
Mom enjoyed her time at the Gardner House downtown where she was there from 2009-2016. She met a lot of wonderful people there and had great memories.
Early years, mom was active in the Polish club that was in Norman, prepping for polish weddings where the ladies got together. Afterwards, the Notre Dame Church Christmas Teas, she'd bake for days. But when the grandkids came into her life, she became "Babba", to all that knew her after that. The oven went into overtime making cupcakes, cakes, and cookies.
Church was very important to Mom. Never missed a Sunday, Christmas, or Easter service while she could physically get too. Once in Pinecrest, she never missed a mass there. With no family car, as kids, we remember the cold walks to and from church.
To the wonderful caring staff of Pinecrest, thank you for taking care of mom. The daily dressing changes to the smiles and hugs they gave. Covid did no justice for these folks.
A private celebration of Life will be held on June 21, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre followed by a graveside service at LOTW cemetery with father Rudy Manaloto officiating, where she will join her husband and son again.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Pinecrest Auxiliary or the Diabetes Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
BROWN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE ENTRUSTED WITH ARRANGEMENTS.
