The Steinbach Pistons aren't going anywhere, but they will be sporting a different jersey to celebrate La Broquerie hockey this weekend.
Marketing manager Jamie Roy says the Pistons are hosting Habs Jersey Nights to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the La Broquerie Habs. They will celebrate with brand-new dark blue jerseys designed by Tyson Kehler that feature the Habs logo and red and white stripes.
The Pistons will wear the jerseys at home games against the Winnipeg Freeze tonight at 7 p.m., and the Winnipeg Blues on Dec. 16.
Afterwards, fans can bid on the jerseys through a link on the Pistons’ website. Bidding closes on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at noon.
“They're up for auction if you know, some die-hard Habs fans want to get their hands on this unique piece of Pistons and kind of Habs history,” Roy says.
Roy says the jerseys also commemorate the Steinbach Pistons playing at the HyLife Centre, which is the home of the Habs, while the Southeast Events Group builds the Southeast Event Centre.
“It's a way for us to show some appreciation to a community that's welcomed us into their building,” Roy says. “It's a fun way to also rep a different jersey—just something a little different.”
