Our old friend the Grinch resurfaced in downtown Muenster as part of Sunday's annual Muenster Twinkle Tour.

A dusting of snow over Saturday night put everyone in the mood for a Twinkle Tour on Sunday. The white stuff added the perfect adornment to the Village of Muenster’s Sunday night Twinkle tour, its fourth annual.

As dozens of walkers took to the streets, the Muenster Fire Department set out, with Santa Claus surfing the back of the pumper, raising a joyous racket heralding the kick off of the tour. Children got to meet Santa by the glow of a bonfire at the Muenster Community Centre and later on Railway Avenue, Santa’s regular pitstop.

Meanwhile, just a short distance away, a green and Grinchy fellow had set up his encampment inside Hotel Muenster. Families flooded in with kids lined up for a photo op, some more anxious than others, with the Grinch. Free hot chocolate courtesy of Hotel Muenster warmed up travellers who trekked through the evening air. Visitors picked their ballots up and voted for their favourite decorated domicile. The vote was still being tallied as of publication time.

Thanks to all who decorated their homes and those who helped put on another great community event. That includes the Village of Muenster, Hotel Muenster and the Muenster Fire Department, with a special shout out to FD member Darren Varga, just recognized for 35 years of service to the Department. Congratulations and much thanks, Darren.

A nod to CN’s Holiday Train for the bright lights that traversed the rails on Friday and Saturday

Of course, thanks to all the visitors and residents for once again making Muenster shine.

-Thanks for help on the photos to Muenster Fire Department, Diane Langlois, Watson and District Museum.
