Police are charging a suspect after a string of robberies in West Kildonan and Norwood neighbourhoods.

Starting on April 24 to June 17, the Winnipeg Police Service says eight robberies occurred at retail clothing outlets and drugstores.

Spots include:

  • the 800 block of Leila Avenue
  • the 1000 block of Leila Avenue
  • the 2300 block of McPhillips Street
  • first 100 block of Marion Street

They believe they are all connected to one suspect.

"During these incidents, a female suspect threatened staff members with a syringe, and on one occasion, a knife when she was exiting the stores with unpaid merchandise," the WPS says in a statement.

There were no injuries.

Police say the suspect made off with approximately $6,000 of stolen goods in the eight robberies, with none of it yet recovered.

The 42-year-old woman is facing Robbery x 8 and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2.
