The ribbon was cut Saturday afternoon to celebrate the results of a huge community effort in Reinfeld.
Several years ago, the RM of Stanley purchased 15 acres of land for the community for the establishment of a new park. A committee was formed, and they quickly hit the ground running to plan for the site and raise the necessary funds.
Committee member Christina Dyck says the event was to celebrate the completion of phase one, which includes an outdoor ice rink, warm-up shack, and dirt bike track. Dyck says it was very exciting to finally see their dream come to life, and it was wonderful to have a day to show it off to all.
"We've had a lot of people from our community, outside our community, and other communities donate to this project. You know, we know that this project wouldn't happen on our own. This is a community place, and it's supposed to be something to draw everybody together... So that's what we want it to be, and just appreciate those that have given to get us here."
Dyck said there have been a lot of communities that have stepped forward, believing in this project.
"Even a lot of local businesses have donated to this project," noted Dyck. "I don't want to start naming names because I would feel bad if I forgot somebody. It's just been beautiful to watch it come together and, have those conversations with everybody involved, and you know, it's just been well received."
Everybody's been on board that they've talked to, added Dyck, and have been willing to donate something, whether it's their time, their money, or materials.
"We've just received a really good amount of support on this thing. So we just would like to see it continue and, we got some more phases that need some donations."
The next phases will include a family picnic shelter, a play structure, baseball diamonds, and a soccer pitch.
