As daily case numbers across the region continue to drop, the Northwestern Health Unit will be changing the way they report cases on their website.
Effective Tuesday, daily case counts will be only updated during the week by the NWHU. Special communication will be delivered to the public over the weekend if a high number of COVID-19 positive test results are confirmed, or if there is a case that is a greater risk to the public that can not be handled by case and contact management.
Weekend case numbers will be added to the Monday morning case number report that was received from the previous Friday case count update.
The NWHU Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon noted that this is a similar practice used by other health units.
To date, the NWHU has conducted a total of 103,045 total COVID-19 tests with a test positivity rate of 1.06 per cent. Throughout the pandemic, there has been a total of 1,091 positive test results.
