There are less than one thousand active COVID-19 cases in Manitoba.

The province is seeing the lowest daily new COVID-19 cases since the Third and Second Wave.

Just over two dozen new COVID-19 cases are being identified in Manitoba Tuesday.

At the beginning of Manitoba's Second Wave, we saw the fall cases rise regularly in the double, and then triple, digits. With Tuesday's 25 new cases, the province has not reached below that number since September 21's 24 cases.

New COVID-19 cases include:

  • 13 new cases in the Winnipeg health region
  • seven new cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
  • four new cases in the Northern health region
  • one new case in the Prairie Mountain Health region
  • zero new cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region

Manitoba's five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 4.5 per cent and Winnipeg's is four per cent.

After a data correction, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 56,943, with 54,798 recoveries. For the first time in months, there are less than one thousand active COVID-19 cases, with the province now sitting at 982 active cases.

One more Manitoban has died, a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern. The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Manitoba is 1,163.

Hospitalizations

Two Manitobans remain in Ontario hospitals receiving ICU care. Forty-three have since returned to their home province.

In Manitoban hospitals, 131 are receiving care. This includes 51 people with active COVID-19 as well as 80 with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious.

In Manitoban ICUs, there are 32 people, nine of which are active and the others no longer infectious.
