The Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) has made some changes to its visitor policies.

Inpatients will now be permitted to have two visitors or caregivers between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. All visitors will be required to wear medical masks.

Additionally, the LWDH will be offering its long-stay, ALC, and palliative patients outdoor visits, when clinically appropriate on a pre-approval basis.

Requests for outdoor visiting need to be made to the Unit Manager or Team Lead at the LWDH.

The care team will determine if the patient is safe to be taken outside by a designated visitor.

Patients who are permitted outdoor visiting will be accompanied to and from the outdoor visiting space by their designated visitor and can have up to another six (6) visitors outdoors at that time.

For outdoor visits, the following protocols must be adhered to:

  • The designated visitor(s) must pass screening.
  • Visitors and patients must practice physical distancing at all times.
  • Visitors and patients must wear masks at all times.
  • There is no eating/drinking permitted.
  • Hand hygiene should be performed when exiting and re-entering the hospital.
  • Children are permitted and children under 2 are not counted in the total designated visitor number.

No visitors are permitted for outpatients.
