Doreine Cecile Valastin (Mitchell) - nee Desautels.
Doreine passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, at Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK.
The youngest of 5 girls, Doreine was born May 17, 1936, in Willow Bunch, SK. She was married to her loving husband, William Mitchell for 50 years. They farmed in the Moose Jaw area from 1969 until 2004. In Doreine’s younger years, she created displays at the Sears in Moose Jaw. She was artistic and dedicated, spending countless hours tending to her garden or working on her next needlepoint project. Doreine’s greatest sense of pride was her family. She enjoyed hosting large family dinners at the farm, surrounded by laughter and love. Doreine was a spirited woman who enjoyed reminiscing about her past. She moved into Moose Jaw where she found companionship in her devoted husband Lad Valastin. Doreine spent 10 years with Lad until her passing.
Doreine is predeceased by her husband, William Rhodes Mitchell (2004), and her son Norman William Mitchell (2014), along with her sisters Jeanette (Leon) Beaudry, Evelyn Larson, and Delores Lavalee.
Doreine is survived by her husband, Lad Valastin, sister Bernadette Eresman, son Richard (Cheryl) Mitchell and daughter-in-law Bonny Mitchell, as well as many nieces and nephews. She had a deep sense of pride for her four grandchildren Sean (Leah) Mitchell, Katherine (Cory) Barkley, Kelly (Patrick) Mitchell and Alayne Mitchell; along with her eight great-grandchildren Wyatt, Ty, Max, Hayley, Zachary, Claire, William, and Avery.
A Funeral Service will be held February 12, 2024, at 10AM at St. Joseph’s Parish located at 1064 3 Ave NW, S6H 3T9. Interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
