Jeannette Mary Bauman
December 23, 1919 – February 9, 2024

The death of Jeannette Mary (nee Vey) (Martin) Bauman of Chateau Providence, St. Brieux, SK, occurred at her residence on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was 104 years of age. Jeannette was born on December 23, 1919, in Wakaw, SK, to Joseph and Amanda (nee Bremner) Vey. The family lived on a farm north of Reynaud, SK, and Jeannette attended school at Shannon Lake in Reynaud. She enjoyed sports, especially ball, because her parents would drop everything to go and cheer her on. Dancing was another great pastime that Jeannette enjoyed as the family would go to different communities by horse and buggy. On June 11, 1940, she married Edward Martin. They lived and farmed east of St. Benedict, SK. Together, they had six children, Marcel, twins Annette and Florette (who died at birth), Edward, Albert and Florette. Life was busy, but Jeannette still made time for curling and bonspieling. Edward passed away on December 19, 1947, in La Ronge, SK. Jeannette and her four children continued to live and carried on farming after Edward’s death. On July 26, 1954, Jeannette married Armin Raymond Bauman, and they lived on a farm southwest of St. Benedict. Jeannette and Armin welcomed two children into the family, Linda and Daniel. While on the farm, Jeannette enjoyed tending to her large garden and helping with seeding and harvesting, which included bringing many meals out to the field. She was a member of the St. Benedict Senior Club, and enjoyed watching curling, hockey, ball, doing ceramics, knitting, and quilting. She and Armin loved to go and watch the chuckwagon and chariot races, especially when the boys were racing. Casino Bus trips were always a favorite thing for them to do also. In October of 2010, they moved off the farm to Millsite Apartments in Wakaw. Lots of days were spent playing cards, doing puzzles, and going to Bingo. Armin passed away on March 21, 2015, in Rosthern, SK. In the fall of 2017, Jeannette moved to Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, where she loved doing crafts, going on outings and taking part in the daily activities. In the fall of 2022, she moved to Chateau Providence Special Care Home in St. Brieux. While living there, she loved to take part in the daily activities and visiting with the other residents and family who came to see her. Jeannette is survived by six children: Marcel (Joan) Martin, Edward (Brenda) Martin, Albert (Linda Tisdale), Martin, Florette (Leon) Rheaume, Linda Markowski, and Daniel (Charlotte) Bauman; 21 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Denise Richardson; and by sister-in-law, Iris Vey. She was predeceased by her husbands, Edward Martin, and Armin Bauman; son-in-law, Jim Markowski; daughter-in-law, Darlene (Victor) Martin; great-grandchild, Michael Willenborg; great-great-grandchild, Oakley Merkosky; her parents, Joseph and Amanda (nee Bremner) Vey; three sisters, three brothers, five sisters-in-law, and six brothers-in-law; and by parents-in-law, Amie and Eva Martin, and Joe and Pauline Bauman.
