On February 19, at 7:00 p.m., RCMP officers from Stonewall / Headingley and RCMP Traffic Services responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision on Highway 3, located about four kilometres south of Oak Bluff.

Investigators have determined that a pickup truck, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Sanford, was travelling southbound on Highway 3 when she struck the rear of another southbound vehicle, being driven by a 20-year-old man from Reinland.

The vehicle that was struck was then pushed into the northbound lane, where it collided with a northbound vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old man from Winnipeg.

The 20-year-old man driving the southbound vehicle, and the four passengers who were women (ages 30,27,26,22) from the northbound vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old driver of the northbound vehicle was not physically injured.

The 32-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle that initiated the collisions, upon entering the ditch in her vehicle, fled the scene on foot.

With the assistance of Police Service Dog Phox, the suspect was tracked to a nearby field, where she was arrested for Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm. As she was not dressed for the weather, and had been outdoors for over an hour and a half, she was transported to hospital where she remains.
