The Regina Police say the execution of a search warrant last Friday led to one of their biggest-ever fentanyl seizures.
The Regina Police Service Drug Unit and Tactical Support Officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant in the 1900 block of Saskatchewan Drive. Two men and one woman were arrested. One of the men was carrying a loaded handgun at the time.
The search led police to fentanyl, carfentanil, cocaine, methamphetamine, cash, and a loaded 9mm carbine rifle.
Police seized the following items:
- 9 Kilograms of fentanyl;
- .5 Kilogram of carfentanil;
- 1.5 Kilograms of cocaine;
- 1 Kilogram methamphetamine:
- $21,191 in cash
- 2 firearms
- 1 baton
"Nine kilograms of fentanyl is a significant, as extremely small quantities of this drug can be lethal," Regina Police said in the news release. "The nine kilograms is one of the largest amounts of fentanyl ever seized by the Regina Police Service."
Police charged 43-year-old Christopher Kenneth Gibson with:
- 3 x Possession of Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [S.5(2) CSDA];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)];
- 2 x Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95 (1)(A)];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon [CC 90];
- 2 x Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order [CC 733.1(1) CC].
Thirty-four year-old Dustin Cole Wyspianski is charged with:
- 3 x Possession of Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [S.5(2) CSDA];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)];
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95 (1)(A)];
And 30-year-old Jazmin Amyotte is charged with:
- 3 x Possession of Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [S.5(2) CSDA];
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)];
