Helene Marie Jean Angus passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 99 on Family Day, of which family was extremely important to her. We had all so hoped that she would reach her 100th birthday. She was just over two months short of that extraordinary milestone.
Helene was born near Ponteix, SK, on May 5, 1924, and was raised on a farm among her five sisters and one brother, all predeceased. She experienced the hardships of the dirty 30’s as a child and developed the resilience to always strive to be active and accomplish things.
In 1943, Helene married Robert (Scotty) Angus of Kincaid, SK. 1952 they purchased the Case Agency on Main Street in Kincaid, knows as Scotty’s Service. In 1959 the business was moved to Hazenmore, SK, and added Helene’s Café. In 1972, they moved to Moose Jaw to enjoy retirement, which meant traveling to Spain, Africa, Barbados, Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico, and Hawaii. Helene was active in the community participating in a variety of crafting events, volunteering at two clubs in Moose Jaw doing various activities to support them. At the age of 95, she finally retired from the front door registration duties at the club. Helene was always searching out the next card game or tournament to play in as well as home games with family. Many good memories were formed doing that.
Helene leaves to mourn her passing, two sons Ron (Diana) of Calgary, AB and Bob of Lethbridge, AB, and his grandchild Candie and her children Braxton and Scarlet; four grandchildren Colin (Cindy), Chad (Lauren), Cheldon (Lindsay) all of Regina, SK and Cami of Calgary, AB; four great-grandchildren Brayden, Blake, Parker, and Alexia. Helene was always ready for a long phone chat, which will be missed.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In living memory of Helene, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
