Students will be able to return to in-class learning this fall for the 2021-2022 school year as the provincial government has released its return-to-school plan.

Grade 1 to 12 students are required to wear a mask or face covering in schools and on school transportation. Kindergarten students are not required to wear masks or face coverings but are encouraged. School staff and transportation staff must wear masks.

Elementary schools students will attend in-person learning five days a week and students will be placed in cohorts and have one teacher.

Programs such as physical education or French will continue while students are in cohorts

Secondary school students will be in class five days a week and school boards will ensure students have two in-person classes.

Schools will train students in proper handwashing procedures and allow students scheduled breaks to wash their hands.

Teachers, students, and school staff will have to perform a COVID-19 screening each day to be certain they are well enough to come to the school.

These measures may be adjusted based on key public health and health care data, according to the Ontario government.

More information will be provided once it is made available.
