Slippery conditions are continuing to be reported on highways north of Airdrie.

On Thursday morning, Mounties were responding to multiple multi-vehicle collisions on the on QEII between Blackfalds and Ponoka due to icy road conditions.

Motorists can expect highways north of Airdrie to be partly covered in snow, with blowing snow and icy wheel paths northbound on the QEII past Carstairs. However, road conditions southbound on the QEII, towards Calgary city limits are reported to still be in good condition.

Airdrie's local forecast is calling for a chance of flurries on Thursday, with two to four centimetres of snow possible. Flurries are also predicted for Friday during the day and periods of snow at night.

Earlier on Thursday morning, motorists commuting to Calgary's downtown core were alerted to several bridge closures due to an ongoing police incident.
