On Monday evening, Cochrane Mounties alerted the public that the traffic diversion west of Cochrane on Highway 1 had ended.
"Traffic is flowing normally in both directions. RCMP thank the public for their cooperation," police stated.
Earlier on Monday evening, Mounties advised motorists that police were diverting traffic in the area.
"RCMP is requesting motorists seek alternate routes," police stated in a brief afternoon update.

Mounties said that both they and partner organizations would be present to ensure that the impact on travellers will be minimized and to ensure traffic disruption will not affect public safety.
Although police did not give details about why there were disruptions, it has been widely reported that protests are taking place in Alberta and across Canada against the federal carbon tax being raised today.
