Northwestern Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccination rates continue to increase, which adds to a hopeful exit of Step Three of the provinces Roadmap to Reopen Plan.

The Northwestern Health Unit has released its weekly vaccine rate update.

As of yesterday, 81.7 per cent of those aged 18 and over have received one dose and 72.4 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Ages 12 and over are not far behind as 80.2 per cent have received their first dose and 70 percent have received both doses.

Across Ontario COVID-19 vaccination rates continue to increase as 81.72 percent of people aged 12 and over have gotten one dose and 72.53 per cent are fully vaccinated.

These province-wide vaccination rates are just within reach of the vaccine thresholds needed to exit Step Three of the provinces Roadmap to Reopen Plan.

The vaccination rates needed to exit Step Three are 80 per cent of the eligible population aged 12 and over have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 75 per cent have received their second, with no public health unit having less than 70 per cent of their population fully vaccinated.

The province has been in Step Three for 21 days as of Friday, August 6, 2021.
