It Is with profound sadness that we announce then passing of Bernadine (Bernie) Elizabeth Gallant (Taphorn) on May 18, 2024, at the age of 92.

Bernie was born the eighth of 14 children to a close-knit family in St. Gregor, Sask in 1932. She joined the RCAF as a nurse, which is where she met her future husband Eric Gallant, a firefighter also in the military. Together they traveled and explored at all their posting. When their children, Yvette and Marc came along, the family of four did more of the same. From Baldy Hughs B.C., Whitehorse Yukon, Lahr Germany, Moisie Quebec and everywhere in between.

Mom was happiest when she was sharing a meal and spending time with her family or socializing and playing cards with her friends, including her Rosewood and The Bentley friends. Mom was always excited to attend or organize the annual Taphorn family reunion, where she gathered with her siblings and their families! And of course, a fun game of bingo with whoever would join her.

Mom was a great cook and impressively crafty, especially in knitting. She made great family suppers and gifts for all of us to enjoy. She was our biggest cheerleader at whatever sport or music event we participated in.

Bernie was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years Eric, in 2016; parents Mary and Bernard Taphorn; five sisters; three brothers; eight in-laws as well as some nieces and nephews.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Yvette (Ken) Enns and Marc (Kim) Gallant; her precious grandchildren Cody (Madison) Enns, Taylor (Destiny) Enns, and Emma; great-grandchildren Porter, Gunnar, and Cecilia.

Bernie also leaves to mourn her sister Mary Korte and Martha (Alex) Ropchan; brothers Andy Taphorn, Ben Taphorn, and Ted (Karen) Taphorn as well as many nieces and nephews.

We will always be impacted by her strength and resilience. Even when her physical strength was diminishing, her mental strength, fortitude and determination will be remembered, revered, and cherished.

We love you mom.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 24, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Church Of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St. Moose Jaw.

In living memory of Bernadine, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
