Wilbert Edward Duerr
January 14, 1933 - June 3, 2024
Wilbert Edward Duerr was born to Ambrose and Veronica Duerr in Humboldt, SK. on January 14,1933. He attended grade school at Dixon School and pursued further education at Kelsey Technical Institute, earning his Canadian Interprovincial Red Seal and Apprentice Certificates in Motor Vehicle Mechanics. After working for the RM of Wolverine and Bayne as a cat operator building roads, he embarked on a career as a mechanic, and was employed with Humboldt Case Implements, Grest Motors (Humboldt) and the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Lanigan Division where he worked until his retirement. Wilbert met Anne Solar in Humboldt, and they married on November 5, 1960. They resided in Humboldt, where they were both employed, and raised their family. Their daughter Jeanette was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, August 4th, 1962, and their son Dennis was born in Humboldt, October 17, 1968. Wilbert had diverse hobbies and interests, but his greatest passion lay in music. Proficient with various instruments, he was a skilled guitarist, contributing to a local "old-time" band, performing at weddings, town-hall dances and other festivities alongside fellow musicians. He also played with the St. Augustine Folk Choir in the 1970s, showcasing his guitar and bass guitar talents. When not strumming his guitar, Wilbert could be found effortlessly playing his favorite tunes on the piano, relying solely on his keen ear for music. He loved to share his music with others. His toe-tapping tunes were as legendary as his laughter and quick-witted humor, which have left a legacy of countless cherished memories. Wilbert will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his two children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren: daughter Jeanette (Brent) Krayetski of Prince Albert, and family: Travis (Samantha) Krayetski, and daughters Mabel and Maryse; Vanessa (Matthew) Moline, and daughter Madison; son Dennis Duerr (Lisane Gaudet) of Saskatoon and family: Hannah Duerr, Mackenzie Duerr, Emma Duerr, Michelle (Kevin) Champion, and Nicole (Sean) Stephenson; two sisters: Rita Schmidt and Ruth (Rodney) Fetter; sister-in-law Gladys Solar; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.
