The 2021 federal election is fast approaching, and Kenora’s Liberal candidate David Bruno is doing everything in his power to make himself known to the community.
Earlier this week, Bruno and his campaign team caught residents on their way to work by just being friendly to people, waving his campaign signs, and letting people know who he is.
Leading up to the federal election the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce is holding an All Candidates Debate next week. This allows the community to get to know their candidates, and it’s an opportunity for the candidates to present their campaign platforms.
Bruno and his team are hard at work preparing for this debate.
“I’ve said this many times before there’s no magic formula, what I am going to do is talk about what we’ve done in the past and our record, what our policies are going to mean on a minutiae level, what does that mean for all us, and that’s what I’m here to defend,” said Bruno
Bruno has been very vocal about what his plans are for the Kenora riding if elected. His plans are to accelerate the twinning of the TransCanada Highway and bring high-speed internet to rural and remote communities across Northwestern Ontario. Bruno will also be fighting for more funding in the region in terms of equity.
In addition to those platforms, Bruno has announced added issues that he will be fighting for.
“We’re going to talk about mental health and healthcare for our seniors. We have more support coming to our seniors in terms of PSW’s (Personal Support Workers), nobody wants to have to leave their homes. This sort of support is exactly what is needed,” says Bruno
“We’re going to be also talking about the environment, which is always omnipresent, if this summer didn’t teach us something, it’s that we need to do something and we need to do it now,” added Bruno
The Liberal candidate will be joined at the debate by incumbent Conservative candidate Eric Melillo, NDP candidate Janine Seymour, Remi Rheault of the Green Party, and Craig Martin of the Peoples Party of Canada.
The All Candidates Debate will take place on September 9, 2021, at the Seven Generations Auditorium from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
