Kenora Conservative candidate Eric Melillo continues his door-knocking and traveling the region to inform residents of his platform if re-elected.

In the midst of the vigorous, and short-lived campaign Melillo is working out the final details of his strategy going into the All Candidates Debate on Thursday.

“I’ve been reviewing the topics, and making a few notes to make sure we’re prepared for that debate. Our focus still remains on knocking on as many doors as possible and sharing our message with voters that way,” said Melillo

“I’m looking forward to the debate, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to exchange ideas with my fellow candidates, and sharing our positive vision for our country, added Melillo

Melillo’s strategy going into the debate is to let his previous two years of representing the Kenora riding speak for itself.

“Being a strong advocate for our region and the diverse needs and issues that cover our vast region in the Kenora riding, and emphasize that the Conservative party is truly the only party with a serious plan to recover our economy and get things back on track as we move on from the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Melillo

The Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the All Candidates Debate on Thursday, September 9, 2021. The event will be held at the Seven Generation’s Auditorium from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

The five Kenora riding candidates that will be joining Melillo on Thursday will be, NDP candidate Janine Seymour, Liberal candidate David Bruno, Remi Rheault of the Green Party, and Craig Martin of the Peoples Party of Canada.

To begin the debate candidates will be given 4 minutes to present an overview of their political platform.

Following the platform presentations, a question period will take place. On the evening of the event, each candidate will select one pre-submitted question, up to five questions will be selected for the event.

The candidates will be advised of the five selected questions no later than Friday, September 3, 2021.

Each candidate will be given 4 minutes to answer the question they have drawn. The other four candidates will then be given 3 minutes after each answered question to add their comments.

To conclude the debate, each candidate will be given 4 minutes for their closing statement. If time allows, there will be an opportunity for one-to-one discussions with the candidates and audience members at the end of the forum.
