It’s been all business for Craig Martin, the Kenora riding’s Peoples Party of Canada candidate, preparing himself for the upcoming federal election on September 20, 2021.
“My campaign’s been going really well, there is a mountain of support in this region for the PPC, and I think there is an understanding there that the Conservative Party has become conservative by name only, and that the People’s Party is the only party out there standing up for conservative values and rural conservative values,” said Martin
Martin joined PPC leader Maxime Bernier on his southern Manitoba tour on Monday, to teach people about the PPC, and their values as a party.
“Finding the support, breathing it in, and looking forward to getting our message out there so that we can promote good changes for our community and for our country,” added Martin
The first step for Martin bringing change to the riding is by addressing key regional issues and answering the public’s questions at the All Candidates Debate on Thursday.
“Certainly the gun control issue is a big one in our rural area. I’m prepared to answer questions like that, and certainly forest fires have come up again. It is what our party would like to do is to form a firefighting brigade in the Canadian Armed Forces,” says Martin
“Which again will help with pollution, will help with not sending extra heat units into the environment, and will preserve the carbon sink, as well as preserving traditional lands,” concluded Martin
Martin added that he looking forward to using the debate as a platform to educate residents on the PPC, and teach them about the party's goals.
“We are a party of people who are running to stand up for the people of this country because the political situation in Canada has become dyer,” said Martin
Another key issue he wants to address in the region is the ongoing housing crisis in the area and the country. Martin wants to create a solution to allow future generations to own their own house.
The five Kenora riding candidates that will be joining Martin on Thursday will be, Conservative candidate Eric Melillo, NDP candidate Janine Seymour, Liberal candidate David Bruno, and Remi Rheault of the Green Party,
The Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the All Candidates Debate on Thursday, September 9, 2021. The event will be held at the Seven Generation’s Auditorium from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Chamber is requiring people that want to attend to RSVP to the event. In-person seats will be on a first come first serve basis.
