It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Neufeld nee Sawatzky on June 25,2024 at the MacGregor Health Center at the age of 85.
Mom was born in Gretna Manitoba to John and Susanna Sawatzky on August 24, 1938. On April 29,1961 she married her true love Jake Neufeld, and their story began. Together they raised 4 children, and with Dad on the road as a long-haul truck driver a lot of that raising was left to Mom. But she seldom said, "wait till your Dad gets home" She dealt with things swiftly and usually with a lot of yelling.
Mom was always a farmer at heart and that showed on their acreage just south of MacGregor. She had us planting hundreds of trees, large flower gardens and vegetable gardens but no one worked harder than she did. Her and Dad enjoyed some traveling together and many family trips as well. As a mother she was fabulous but she really excelled when the Grandsons came along. Her and Dad spent many an hour with all of them and made many wonderful memories that sustained her when her days got quieter.
Mom is predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years Jake, her son Fred in 1985, sisters Eva Peters and Susan Rempel, brother Bill Sawatzky.
She leaves to mourn passing her beloved son Daryl who has been by her side for almost 60 years and who will miss her immensely. Daughter Valerie (Darcy) Watson and their boys and families- Lee and Cara, Lexi, Tessa, and Morgan. Parker and Kaelyn, Rilynne and Hudson. And Spencer and Shayne. Son Perry (Loretta) and their boys and families- Landen and Hannah- Reagan, Texie, Nolan and Wade. Conner, Thaddeus and Cassidy. Her sister Kathy Peters and brother John Sawatzky. Many Sisters and Brothers- in- laws on the Neufeld side who have always been very special to Mom.
Mom's Graveside service will be held on Tuesday July 2,2024 at the MacGregor Cemetery at 1:00pm
