The Swift Current Research and Development Centre is holding a Crops and Soils Field Day on Thursday, July 4.

Dr. Michelle Hubbard says the event is open to producers and will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 4th.

She says it will feature some of the work being done at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada facility.

"We'll see a number of trials, including one that I'm on, chickpea and flax intercropping. Then there is three trials led by Dr. Kui Liu an agronomist here, and three led by Dr. Mervin St. Luce, also an agronomist specializing in nitrogen."

She says among the trials on the tour there's a study on nitrogen fertilization of barley,  resilient rotations, and long-term no-till cropping systems:

There's also a trial on early seeded organic wheat, canola nitrogen use efficiency, nitrogen management in spring wheat, and two more that Hubbard is involved in liming as a tool for root rot management and soil health, as well as natural products for managing root rot in peas.

The Swift Current Research and Development Centre Crops and Soils Field Day is set for Thursday, July 4, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The event is free, but participants are asked to pre-register by scanning the QR code or through eventcreate link at https://www.eventcreate.com/e/swiftcurrentcropsandsoilsfieldday.
