It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernice Olive Austin. Mom passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 101. She was born on August 2, 1922, to Annie and Horace Andrews in the Sweet Grass District in the RM of Caron, SK.

Bernice was the 6th child in the Andrews family. At the young age of 14, she went to work for the Austin family. In 1938, she married her beloved husband, Ralph, and together they started a homestead and a family, living on the farm until 1968 when they moved to Mortlach. Following Ralph’s declining health, they relocated to Athabasca Towers in Moose Jaw in 1996, where Ralph passed away in 1998. Bernice continued to live there, making many friends, playing cards, and dancing at Timothy Eaton's. Her next move was to Bentley, where she found great pleasure in playing cards, bingo, and enjoying the entertainment that kept her busy. Her final move was to Chateau St. Michael in March 2024 until her peaceful passing.

Mom lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family. During her time at the Bently she won an award for having the most family come to visit. She was known for her kindness, humor generosity, and cherished spending time with her loved ones, creating lasting memories together.

Mom was preceded in death by dad, Ralph, and two sons, Gordon and Bruce. Bernice is survived by her sons: Ralph (Bev), Allan (Kathy), Doug (Linda), and daughter Cindy (Greg); half-sisters Olive and Marylin; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; daughter in law Elaine and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors at W.F Wigmore Hospital for their special care in a difficult time. Also, the caring staff at The Bentley and Chateau St. Micheal Care Home for all they did for mom, we can’t thank you enough!
