Riding Mountain MLA Greg Nesbitt invites Manitobans to submit their designs for the new Manitoba parks specialty license plate.
“Manitoba is home to some of Canada’s most beautiful parks and many incredible artists,” said Nesbitt. “This is an exciting first step in a collaborative process to create what will surely be Canada’s most beautiful license plate.”
The specialty license plates are being developed after Bill 211, sponsored by Nesbitt, received Royal Assent in the Legislature in June. Proceeds from sales of the plates will support Manitoba’s Provincial Parks Endowment Funds, which were established in 2021.
These funds generate as much as $1 million annually for local projects that improve trails, open accessibility, build new playgrounds, restore habitats, protect cultural sites, and invest in other critical park infrastructure.
Artwork for the specialty plates can be created using a variety of mediums, including photography, graphic design, paintings, or a combination of styles.
Designs can be submitted electronically at pcmbcaucus.com/parksplate or by emailing Parks.Plate@leg.gov.mb.ca. The deadline to submit is August 16, 2024, with a winning design selected and announced later this fall.
Nesbitt hopes the new license plate is out in time for the 2025 camping season.
