George Hollingsworth Obituary
1962 ~ 2024 (age 62)
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, son, brother, grandfather and friend, George Robert Hollingsworth of Coleville, Saskatchewan who passed away on July 10,2024 after a short battle with stage 4 lung cancer.
George was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia February 5th, 1962, to Mary Germaine Hollingsworth (Helle). And the late George Chesley Hollingsworth. As a young boy growing up on the east coast George always loved picking up a rod and heading out for a fishing trip with Paps to Pringle Lake or heading off to the drag races to watch his dad race with the family. He also learned his love and knowledge of guns and hunting from his father who was President and active member of Metro Rifle and Pistol Club at Sydport Gun Club. George began early in life with hands on work, learning the tricks and trades of body work and welding from his father Cheddie. As he got older, he moved west to Saskatchewan and Alberta mastering his craft of fabricating, welding and body work over the next 40 years. He used those crafts, skills and his brilliant mind to help others in and around the community. Even a Beekeeper from Alberta flew in, landed his plane at Patch Machining and asked for the best to weld his stainless-steel parts for his plane. He has created BBQs, fire pits, road drags that are seen all over the oilfield, texas gates, the chess table at the Kindersley Motherwell Reservoir, an acetylene powered fire breathing dragon for the Coleville 100th anniversary parade. He was seen helping farmers weld equipment, hand crafting Christmas gifts out of steel for family and friends or working on and modifying the chassis of the fastest dirt drag cars around this country at his last workplace Good To Go Rentals.
He loved to finish a workday off by cruising out to the Hamel Farm to visit his extended family Eddie, Brian, John, Greg, Andy and her 2 daughters, Jaqueline and Julie, to work on the graders, fords or paint an old fridge.
He spent many years out on the prairies but had a deep root and love for the east coast. He loved his family, he loved to help people and he loved his animals whether it was a cat, iguana, chinchilla or a Pitbull.
George leaves behind his beloved mother Germaine; 5 sons George (Tammy), Darryl, Warren (Kaitlin), Dawson, and Carson; sisters Elizabeth Crummey (Bill),
Deborah Hollingsworth; grandchildren Rylee, Tyson, Aùjel; many nieces and nephews; and his special lifelong friend Charlotte Jennex. He will also be dearly missed by all of the friends who have become family to him.
A special thanks goes out to palliative care and home care support for everything they did and provided for our Dad to make his stay at home as comfortable as can be.
At George’s request no services will be held.
