The Grasslands Exhibition makes its return to the Humboldt Uniplex this weekend. It’s the 47th edition of the provincial sheep show which has been anchored in Humboldt for the last several years. The exhibition is a showcase of the sheep industry put on by the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board.

“This is our major annual event that we host in Humboldt,” says Gord Schroeder, executive director of the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board. “It’s moved around the province over the years, but we’ve been in Humboldt the last number of years. The Uniplex is a great facility to host our event and display our industry.”

As with previous years, the show includes an exhibition of sheep shearing, sheep dog herding, and wool working. The always popular show and sale brings producers and the public to check out the livestock.

The trade show, featuring products and services for producers as well as consumer wool goods, is back once again with even greater variety. For adventurous eaters, there are lamb burgers available at their concession.

The sheep move in on Friday and the show gets underway proper on Saturday and Sunday. There is no charge to the public – just an invitation from the Board to come on down to the Uniplex to see the sheep industry in action.
