Every single part of your body plays a role in your health… from your head to your toes. But some parts can be easy to ignore. Like your feet.
Give them the attention they deserve! Whether you have a pesky ingrown nail, or a more serious issue, Renee Chelle, RN, owner of Heal to Toe Advanced Footcare can get you back on your feet.
Renee has been a practicing RN since 2017 and opened Heal to Toe in December 2023. While she initially only practiced in Shaunavon, she’s now offering services in Swift Current out of Railway Health Clinic!
“I have a clinic in Shaunavon, Heal to Toe Advanced Footcare,” she says. “I'm there in the clinic three Tuesdays per month. In Swift Current, I'm operating out of the Railway Health Clinic once a week on Thursdays. I’m super excited to be in there with all those cool cats.”
While working as an RN, Renee’s passion for foot care grew as she learned how much of a difference it made for her patients.
“My favourite part about working with people is just helping them find answers and relief,” she says. “The immediate sense of relief after they’ve been dealing with a longstanding issue, especially something like corns or ingrown nails, I’m glad to be able to offer that. And it’s so satisfying seeing people walk out of the office feeling immediately better – not limping or wincing in pain.”
For some, these ailments can be extremely debilitating, and not everyone has the physical strength or ability to properly care for their feet.
“There’s just a huge need for foot care,” she explains. “There's always going to be an aging population, and a lot of folks just can’t reach their feet, or they've had some health complication like a stroke that they just aren't able to do their nails anymore.”
But, she explains, people of any age can struggle with foot-related health issues.
“I work with people across the spectrum,” she says. “I’ve had kids come in as young as two or three to have their nails done, and clients all the way up to elderly. Anyone that has nail issues, or just something going on with their feet that they’re unsure of, I’m happy to help. I'm definitely not a podiatrist, I can't diagnose, but I can deal with a huge variety of nail issues and ailments.”
Renee’s main goal, though, is to provide a non-judgmental, unbiased space for people to access specialized healthcare.
“Some people may have neglected feet for whatever reason, and it can be difficult or embarrassing for them to ask for help,” she says. “So, I always try to provide a safe environment, just somewhere we can focus on getting them the care they need.”
Renee provides both basic and advanced foot care. Basic care includes nail trimming and filing. Advanced care includes corns, calluses, ingrown nails, diabetic foot care, compression stocking fitting, and sensory testing with a monofilament device.
And, starting in September, Heal to Toe will be offering reflexology treatments, a holistic approach to improving your overall health.
She explains, “Reflexology is a stimulation of the nerves and reflexes in the feet. Each reflex corresponds to a specific body part or organ, so it helps your body get back into a state of homeostasis or equilibrium. It can help relieve pain and tension through the entire body, so it’s another option I can offer to help people manage their pain.”
Big issue or small, you don’t have to be ashamed to seek out foot care. Get back on your feet with Heal to Toe Advanced Footcare!
