Ethel McKnight Obituary
October 12, 1929 ~ May 22, 2024 (age 94)
Lorraine McKnight (Ethel Lorraine) passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024 in Victoria BC. She was born in Sovereign, Saskatchewan, October 12, 1929. Predeceased by her husband Alvin McKnight in 2004. Lorraine is survived by her children Earl (Margret) McKnight, Bernie (Fran) McKnight, Elaine McKnight (Greg Cunningham); grandchildren Lorie (Liam) Tierney, Kevin (Pam) McKnight, Elianne McKnight; and great-grandchildren Renee, Conner, and William Tierney, and Zach and Paige McKnight. She will be missed by many other family and friends.
Lorraine moved to Kindersley at the age of 18 to work as a telephone operator alongside her future sister in-law Norma (McKnight) Robinson and then she met Alvin. Lorraine and Alvin were married in 1950 and spent many years on the farm southwest of Kindersley. It was there she mastered the life of farming with her massive garden, tending various livestock and helping take grain off the combine.
Lorraine continued her love of gardening after they retired from the farm to reside in Kindersley. She was an avid sports fan …loved watching baseball, and football and loved her cameras and taking pictures of her family. Lorraine continued to live in Kindersley until 2015 where she took an adventure to move to Victoria to escape the snow and cold of the prairie winters and to live near her daughter and son-in-law. Lorraine touched the hearts of many, her great sense of humour and fabulous smile was so appreciated by family, friends and care givers.
At Lorraine’s request there will be no funeral service. She will be interred in the Kindersley Cemetery beside her loving husband.
