County Regional Fire Service is responding to two wildfires. Yesterday, some hot spots were detected from Saturday's fire located south of Range Road 51 on the north bank of the Wapiti River. At approximately 8:00 p.m. last night, a new fire was discovered south of Range Road 44 near the Bear River. There is currently no threat to the public.
The new fire is east of the fireguard and is being actioned by Alberta Wildfire air tankers and County fire crews.
A ground crew and helicopter have been working diligently on fire GCU-010, located south of the fireguard.
Fire crews will continue to work on both fires throughout today.
The public is asked to stay clear of the area to allow aircraft and firefighters to conduct their work.
Updates will be shared on the County of Grande Prairie’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, and the website, www.countygp.ab.ca
