School might be out, but the determination of a new Provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement between teachers and the Saskatchewan Government is ongoing.
Binding arbitration is being used to find a resolution around the class complexity-accountability framework and wages, with Saskatchewan teachers ending job action in June.
The previous Collective Bargaining Agreement expired at the end of August 2023.
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) released a statement yesterday outlining the nominees for the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee (TBC), Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee (GTBC), and the agreed-upon arbitrator.
Daniel Ish will function as arbitrator for the two sides, having experience as a former University of Saskatchewan law professor and dean of the College of Law.
Dawn Harkness is the TBC nominee, bringing experience as a retired Saskatoon Public Schools teacher and principal. Her current work is in university education programs.
Greg Chatlain is the GTBC nominee, bringing experience as a former director of education for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
Dates for binding arbitration have yet to be determined.
