File photo. Great local talent returns to the Bruno Cherry Festival
Categories

When the sweet, tart taste of prairie cherries hangs on the air, you know it’s time for Bruno Cherry Sunday. The hallowed homage to all things cherry is coming up on Sunday.  Organizers Jodi Tremel says that much of the format remains similar to previous years, and the quality of the talent for the day, the local artisans and the cherry-based cuisine remains top notch.

“We have a great selection of Bruno local vendors,” Jodi says. “We have the Bruno Lions Club coming with cherry smokies, burgers and beverages. We also have the Golf Club coming in with those delicious cherry elephant ears.”

High school students from Bruno School will be back with the mouth-watering cherry sundaes, and no festival would be complete without a generous supply of cherry pies, hand crafters by other groups and individuals.

“On the other side of things, we have some really great entertainment coming to you all day, and there is going to be a vendors’ market going on as well.”

The vendors are carefully curated for quality and variety, and attendees from previous festivals will attest to the beauty and high quality of the ceramics, woodworking, produce and other local and regional offerings.

Acts on the Bruno Credit Union Main Stage throughout the day include Acoustic Sessions, Memory Lane, Saltwater Joy, Riley Family and Friends, and GodWellHaze, followed by the door prizes and awards wrap up around 4 pm.

“As the day goes on there is a mix for everyone,” says Tremel

The days starts off at 8:30 am with a pancake breakfast by host St. Therese Institute, complete with requisite cherry sauce. The entertainment and the vendors’ tables get under way around 10 am.

Make your way to Bruno’s St. Therese Institute for the finest cherry themed libations and entertainment with Bruno Cherry Sunday.
