A weak disturbance sliding through Southern Manitoba Sunday morning and into the afternoon led to many PembinaValleyOnline Rainwatchers seeing something in their gauges by last night.
"We have gone through a complete pattern flip over the last couple of days," explained CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "Previously, we had been under the influence of upper level ridging in the atmosphere, which allowed warm air from the southern U.S. to settle into our area. Now, we are in an area of upper level troughing, meaning the jet stream is somewhat to our south, and upper level lows over the eastern Arctic and Hudson Bay will drive our weather for much of the week."
Sumner added that means cooler temperatures than we've had in quite a while due to a generally northerly or northwesterly flow aloft and multiple chances for showers.
