Caroline Margaret Altman
October 13, 1931 – July 31, 2024
Caroline Margaret (nee Poppel) Altman, 92 years, of Saskatoon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, with her family by her side. Caroline was born on October 13, 1931, to Martin and Rose (Beumler) in the Pilger District. Caroline attended St. Bernhard’s School till grade 8. Caroline met the love of her life, Allan Altmann, and they were married October 12, 1953. Together they had seven children and 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Caroline loved gardening and cooking for the family, because it brought everyone together. Because of her love of cooking, Caroline had the opportunity to cook for St. Michaels Hospital in Cudworth for many years. Caroline was very involved in the community, including belonging to the CWL in St. Benedict and cooking and cleaning at the church. Caroline and her late husband loved going on road trips short or long. In February of 2016, even though it was difficult to leave the farm, the decision was made to move to Saskatoon. She returned to the farm every summer and slowly learned to like living in the city where she enjoyed the social life with her friends and was independent to the very end. Caroline will be lovingly remembered by her seven children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Private Family Service has been held. Interment took place at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Benedict, SK. Memorial donations in Caroline’s memory may be directed to St. Ann’s Senior Citizens Village Corporation (2910 Louise Street, Saskatoon, SK, S7J 3L8).
