The Northwestern Health Unit has reported three new cases of COVID-19 in the region.

The three cases are in the District of Rainy River.

There are currently seven active cases in the region. Five cases in the District of Rainy River and one case in each of the Kenora and Dryden/Red Lake regions.

One person is currently in hospital with COVID-19 in the region. No further information has been provided.

The province reported 613 new cases of COVID-19 today. The majority, 454 cases are in those that aren't fully vaccinated and have an unknown vaccination status.

NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.  For information about getting tested, please visit the NWHU website for instructions on how to schedule an appointment at an assessment centre.
