A pair of Moose Jaw residents were recently arrested and charged following a break-and-enter in Alberta.
On Tuesday evening, the owner of a residence in Lehigh, Alberta, is reported to have been sprayed with bear spray during a break-and-enter, and the suspect fled the scene.
While Drumheller RCMP tried to stop the suspect vehicle, it was deemed in the public safety not to continue pursuit. The vehicle was reportedly driving erratically at high speeds and struck a vehicle causing minor damage.
The suspects were seen running into a field after abandoning the vehicle west of Drumheller, and officers searched the area. A 38-year-old man and 26-year-old woman from Moose Jaw were arrested and subsequently remanded into custody.
RCMP say a search of the vehicle turned up bear spray, tools, and suspected methamphetamine. The vehicle was also found to have been stolen from BC and have an altered licence plate.
Brandon Gariepy is scheduled for court in Drumheller on August 16. He was arrested on outstanding warrants for two counts of Robbery and Possession of a Concealed Weapon, in addition to new charges including: Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, Flight from Peace Officer, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Break-in Instruments
Dawn Sorowski’s first hearing is August 9. she has been charged with Break and Enter, Robbery, Possession of Ammunition While Being Prohibited, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Remain at Scene of an Accident, Fraudulent Concealment of Insurance Corporation Property, and Obstruct Peace Officer.
