Henry was born to Frank and Anna Klassen on November 28, 1943 in Steinbach. He grew up in the Grunthal area and attended the Gravelridge school completing grade 8. After school, he worked a variety of jobs. He was baptized as a teenager and met Mom when they attended the same young people’s group at the Spencer Bergthaler Church. They got married on October 3rd, 1965 and then started their life together, raising six daughters and building up a successful broiler farm located between Steinbach and Grunthal. In 2007, they retired to the outskirts of Steinbach into a beautiful home they built and enjoyed with their family for the next 17 years. This past June Henry and Nettie moved into Woodhaven.

Some hobbies Dad enjoyed were: playing baseball – enjoying both organized teams or fun games of scrub with the family, taking his family on road trips, wood carving, floor curling with Nettie in the last few years, bus tours to various places, and always supporting his kids and grandkids in sports and track meets. Dad was always involved in church serving the people around him. Some positions included Sunday School Superintendent, deacon, and missions committee member. He was very active in the League for Life organization and with Special Olympics. Dad was often reading his Bible and leading us in family devotions. We are forever grateful for his spiritual guidance and his example over the years. He has left a legacy that reaches beyond his time here on earth.
