The Herman Prior Activity Center was happy to host this year’s Car Hop, marking five years for the fun annual tradition.
Head of the fundraising committee, Barb Cavers was pleased with the turnout for the event. She says keeping the tradition going is always a good thing and helps them to stay connected to the city of Portage la Prairie.
“It's super important for us. This is one of our major fundraisers. We are an important part of this city, and we continue to serve meals and help people out all year long. This fundraiser helps us run these programs.”
Cavers notes that the most important part of Car Hop is the volunteers, who make it all possible. She comments the event is run entirely by volunteers and having them is a tremendous help for the committee.
At the event they had a barbeque that everyone enjoyed along with the old cars. There was also a silent auction, 50/50 and more, for the crowds at the Herman Prior, all while listening to some old-fashioned music.
Cavers adds that the support they receive from the community each year is always appreciated, and the Car Hop is expected to go on next year with the same enthusiasm.
