The Parker Family welcomed Bolt FM for an afternoon Meal in the Field.
Categories

A little overnight rain put a damper on harvest proceeding, but not on the spirits of everyone at the Parker Farm. Adam Parker and his family were the winners in this week’s Meal in the Field.

The family gathered for an afternoon burger bar meal on Thursday as they waited for the crops to dry out from the previous night’s four-tenth's rainfall.

The family farms about 3800 acres in the rolling hills north of St. Benedict. Adam grew up in St. Benedict, and headed into the farming business like his father, whose homestead is between St. Benedict and Cudworth.

While the rain put harvest into park, the results he’s been seeing so far in the area are promising.

“We got a little bit of barley off and its looking all right. We combined some wheat for a neighbour that was looking good to.”

His crops of barley, wheat and canola are waiting for the promise of dry weather coming up through the long weekend and into the new week.

The kids were enjoying the last days before heading back to school. They all pulled up to the burger bar, complete with all the fixings, salads, BP’s delicious bandera bread, and a sumptuous brownie for dessert.

Thanks to our Meal in the Field sponsors Horizon Fertilizers, South 20 Dodge, FCC and Hergott Farm equipment.
