The PCI Trojans baseball program is hosting its annual tryouts between September 10 and 19, with several dates open. Coach Jay Dewis says they'll have a few spots open to fill for the season when it kicks off next spring.

"We graduated four players from our 2024 team; all four filled prominent roles for our team. That leaves some big shoes to fill. We have 11 players that are eligible to return in 2025. That's how high school sports work for everybody though - you ask your younger players to step into bigger roles each season."

Dewis notes that the tryouts will be earlier this year and explains the reasoning behind the change is to better evaluate players on the diamond as opposed to indoor sessions in the gym.

The tryouts will be hosted on September 10, 12, 15, 17, and 19 on Diamond 8 at Republic Park. Each session will begin at 4:15 p.m.

Dewis also shares that the program has expanded its equipment for their indoor training, which can be utilized by both the Trojans baseball and Saints softball programs.

"We're also excited for the 2025 season as we should have the opportunity to get started sooner than other years. Coaches Cam Asham and Rob Olson have had a vision for expanding what our team can do in the gym through acquiring some more indoor equipment - including a pitching machine and netted hitting tunnel," Dewis continues. "Some of the equipment will be dual use for fastpitch, so the Saints fastpitch team can also benefit. Through successful fundraising efforts by past PCI teams, grant money, and generous donations, the funds have been secured to go ahead with purchasing and will hopefully be set up and ready to use in the new year. It’ll be great for both of our PCI programs as the vast majority of the preparation we do for our season is indoors."
