Jim Hansen and his crew are today’s winner of Grainrush! Driven by Great Plains Ford, we were able to take some delicious KFC out to him and his crew out near Yellow Grass.
After an interesting year weather-wise, Jim is pleased to announce a much better harvest than anticipated.
“Harvest is actually going better this year than we anticipated. It was extremely dry for about two months, and I don't know where the yields came from, but they're reasonable. I think the farmers are quite pleased. It's not big yields, but they expected less. So, it's a pleasant surprise and the grade is good, prices are down on some of the commodities at the elevators. But we hope that pumps back up.”
Jim farms a variety of crops out near Yellow Grass including durum, canola, lentils and canary seed. Thanks to some help from a neighbour, they’re currently 80% complete and are well ahead of schedule.
