There will be delays on the Perimeter Highway on Saturday, September 7, for a special reason.

Manitoba Infrastructure sent out a notice on Friday, saying, "The Truck Ride for Special Olympics will take place on Saturday, September 7, starting at 10 a.m. on the Perimeter Highway (PTH 100 and 101)."

According to the release, "The truck ride will commence at the TC Energy Centre in Iles des ChĂȘnes, travel northbound on PTH 59 and turn onto the Perimeter Highway, completing one lap around the Perimeter."

Motorists may experience traffic delays along this route as the truck ride passes.

The LETR Truck Ride for Special Olympics Manitoba is a fundraising event where members of the Manitoba trucking community join forces to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Manitoba's programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

"After an engaging community breakfast, drivers return to their rigs, blare their horns, and drive as a group around the Perimeter Highway forming an eye-catching parade of support," the organization's website says.
