The Strathmore Spartans continue the hunt for their first win of the season.

The Spartans took on the Chestermere Lakers on Friday (Sept. 6) and lost 41-28. Despite the defeat, coach Danny Warrack said that the team is getting better.

"It was an improvement. The offense came alive at times, but there's still a lot of work to do, as well," said Warrack. "It was a good effort."

Highlights included quarterback Carter Kent throwing for two touchdowns and good plays by several of the team's veteran players.

"If our team keeps trending like we have the last week, we're going to see another good effort and a lot of positive out of it and that's the goal here while we get through this rebuild with the young team. The future is bright here," added Warrack. "We've just got to keep sticking with it and game planning and making sure we're doing things right. This team will get better especially as the players grow and get stronger."

Up next for the Spartans is a date against the Chinook Coyotes in Lethbridge this Friday (Sept. 13) at the University of Lethbridge football field.
