The Canadian National Women's Hockey Camp ran from September 9-15 with several invites from the Province of Manitoba. Defenceman Jocelyne Larocque and Goaltender Raygan Kirk are in attendance from Ste. Anne, Ashton Bell from Deloraine joins them, along with goaltenders Kristen Campbell from Brandon, and Elm Creek's Corinne Schroeder.

Schroeder spoke to PortageOnline about the opportunity to attend the national camp, her second consecutive invite.

"It's been great. Honestly, it's pretty similar to what we've done in previous years, but it's been so great to be back with all the girls again and getting a little bit of a mini training camp in together before we split off to our PWHL camps and honestly it's just been a great time so far."

Schroeder adds that it's exciting to get a chance to return for the camp.

"It's really special to be invited. Every year, you can't wait, and you wait and wait for the e-mail and just hope that you do receive it. It's always really nice to get that little boost of confidence and get ready, get excited for the camp and. You know you're still in it, and yeah, it's always an honour to be invited and get to wear the Team Canada jerseys."

Schroeder and her Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) teammates are preparing for their second season in the league, which just recently announced their logos and team names. She adds she thinks the fans may be the ones who benefit the most from the news.

"It's so exciting just to see that all the teams' names and logos and it'll be really exciting for the fans. They have a little more to connect with. I think they did a great job with ours, the New York Sirens. I think it'll be something everyone can really get behind, so I'm very excited for that. Hopefully it will build some fan engagement, and some cool little trends come along through that."
