National Legion Week is returning to Weyburn this upcoming week starting September 15th. Seven days dedicated to the amazing men and women working within the Legion who states,
“National Legion Week is designed to educate visitors on the good work their local Branch does in their community. It reinforces the important role Branches play in our shared mission to serve and support our Veterans, as well as contribute to the well‑being of so many communities. It serves as a vehicle to drive new traffic to Branches, attract new members and sign up new volunteers.” (Royal Canadian Legion’s Website)
Weyburn is celebrating this week with many fun events at the Legion. Secretary Manager with the Weyburn Legion, Debbie Kater, said she is excited to host these fun events at the Branch.
“What we did last year is we had our some of our veterans come in and do like a meet and greet, you could see some memorabilia that we have out down there. We also had free cinnamon buns and coffee. Everybody was welcome to come in so we're going to try and do some of that again."
A meet and greet with free cinnamon buns and coffee is happening on Friday, September 20th at the Legion so swing by, meet some amazing veterans, check out some of the old memorabilia they have, and enjoy a sweet treat and hot coffee.
Kater noted that the Weyburn Legion received a gracious donation of some old movies and documentaries from a former member that they’ll be playing throughout the week, firing up the popcorn machine.

“One of our former members gave us a bunch of movies, so we're going to be playing those. Some documentaries we’re going to put on so you can come in, have popcorn, sit down and relax. Just kind of getting people into the Legion to see what we actually have.”
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47 here in Weyburn is located at 150 3rd St NE, so come down next week, meet some amazing people, and enjoy everything the Legion has to offer.
