Air quality advisory issued as thick wildfire smoke drifts into Manitoba

Widespread smoke from wildfires burning in Saskatchewan has led Environment Canada to issue an air quality advisory for Manitoba. 

Thick smoke began pouring into Manitoba Tuesday evening causing very poor air quality. Today the smoke is expected to stick around and hit northeastern Manitoba down to the southwestern portion of the province.. 

During heavy smoke conditions, Environment Canada says everyone is at risk regardless of their age or health. They say the fine particles in wildfire smoke pose the main health risk.

Manitobans are encouraged to limit time outdoors and to consider rescheduling or cancelling outdoor sports activities or events.

The smoky conditions are expected to improve by Thursday afternoon
